The Computing Curriculum

How does computing support our curriculum intent and Christian vision?

Computing, with its deep links to science, maths and DT, prepares children to take a full part in a increasingly technological future. It supports children to think logically and solve problems. As both an intensively creative but challenging subject computing supports the  development of a rounded and well balanced learner.

How do we structure our  computing curriculum?

Currrently, the children study blocks of content which ensure coverage of the whole national curriculum. These are planned and delivered in two week blocks. However, there is a new subject leader in computing who is refining this curriculum to even more closely meet the needs of our children. The document below shows how, from the September, the new computing curriculum will be embedded. This will pick up from the current long term plan. In the summer term the children will complete the work in the previous long term plan and the staff will begin to dovetail provision into the new plan. The new units of work are taken from the teach computing curriculum planning.

Computing in the Early Years

Computing and indeed technology is part of all of our lives and the youngest children have full access to the use of a wider range of technology as part of their provision. So, ipads, camera, beebots and many other things are used to enhance learning in the Early Years whilst providing a strong foundation for future learning in KS1 and KS2.
