Remembrance Day

At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month the country stops and observes a two minute silence. We do this to show respect for and remember all those who have given their life in the service of their country.

At Bishop Wilton we stopped to remember and we were joined by our vicar, Rev Mike, parents and friends of the school. We laid poppies to remember. We have sold poppies in school and the money will go to the charity of the Royal British Legion who help the veterans of the wars and their families.

"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them"

Laurence Binyon

Tea party for the residents of Bishop Wilton

Once a year we invite the people of the village to afternoon tea with us. We serve them tea and coffee and aslways have good biscuits. We entertain them with a few of the songs we know and then we play games together. It is always a lovely occasion. We know we are part of a big community than just our school.

Leaver's Assembly

On the very last day of term we gather the whole community together to listen to the Y6 memories. We present them with a book  of memories and they give the children in the school a special gift to remember them by. Our vicar gave each child a special blessing to send them on their way. Then the whole school give them a special blessing, the celtic blessing

May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

And the rain fall soft upon your fields,

Until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
