Art workshop
Children in KS2 enjoyed taking part in an afternoon of art. They were visited by local artist Phil White, who worked with them on their sketching and printing skills.
Repeated patterns
KS2 children were inspired by the work of Rachel Parker. They created their own repeated patterns, using different shapes and materials.
Exploring identity
In art, KS2 explored how artists use various aspects of their identity, creating imagery which explores many different aspects within one image by using layers and juxtaposition. They then created their own layered self-portraits to express their identity.

Cloth, thread and paint
The Juniors have been inspired by the artists Alice Kettle and Hannah Rae to create pieces of art using cloth, thread and paint.
Drawstring bags
In D&T, the Juniors were inspired by the Vikings to design and make their own drawstring bags. They used split stitch to embroider Viking runes on to the front, and back stitch to sew the bag together.
The Art of Display
KS2 have been inspired by the artist Anthony Gormley to create sculptures, using plinths to display their final pieces. The sculptures are models of themselves and they used clay to create their pieces of art.
Using natural materials to make images
In art, KS2 have been looking at using natural materials to make images. The children gathered materials to create their own pigments to paint with. They also created their own cyanotype photographs using the sun's UV rays.
Our World- RE artwork
The Juniors have been looking at the creation of the world. Using extracts from Genesis, and hymns, they were inspired to create artwork to celebrate our wonderful world.

The Jabberwocky
The Juniors illustrated The Jabberywocky, by Lewis Carroll. They used their imagination to create shapes and lines, using various pieces of equipment. They also incorporated text, replicating the,' How to Train your Dragon' books.
Illustrating a story
KS2 experimented with various tools to create imagery based on key words, for example, stormy sea, bleak forest and thunder. They will use this when they start creating their Jabberwocky artwork.

Ancient Egypt artefacts display
The children made some fantastic creations for our Egyptian artefacts display.
RE- Founders of faith artwork
KS2 looked at the founders of faith in RE. They studied various pieces of artwork by famous artists depicting Jesus and Abraham, and then created their own versions of these. We noted that there are no visual representations of Muhammed (pbuh) as prescribed by Islamic law.
Building and sketching sets
KS2 used different materials to build a set, based around a chosen theme. They then used what they had learnt when investigating mark-making with charcoal to sketch their finished sets. The children finished by creating a piece of descriptive writing.
Artist exhibition day
KS2 from across the Federation were joined by artist Peter Swidrak. The school hall was transformed into an art gallery, and the children were then guided to create their own pieces of artwork.
